H. Pearce Co. has named Maureen Campbell vice president to run the newly formed corporate services division of the North Haven company. Campbell will oversee the division, which will include relocation services, technology, public relations and marketing. Campbell has served in several management positions in her 21 years with Pearce. She is a Certified Relocation Professional with extensive experience in the relocation field.

In Shelton, PHS Health Plans has promoted John P. Charde, M.D., to chief medical officer. He is now responsible for overseeing all medical-management activities for the HMO, including policy development, clinical measurement and profiling activities and credentialing and accreditation. Charde brings 18 years of medical management and quality improvement experience to his new position. Most recently he was vice president and senior medical director responsible for the supervision and implementation of PHS Health Plans' Quality Management & Initiatives program. He succeeds Timothy Moore, M.D., who was named chief medical officer for Health Net Inc., PHS Health Plans' parent company.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven has named Jon Zonderman president of its board of directors at its annual meeting. It is his second term on the Habitat board. He became involved with Habitat as a member of Temple Emanuel in 1995 and has taken on increasing responsibility, including holding the office of vice president for the past two years. Zonderman is an independent writer, working on books, articles and Web content for consulting firms and corporations.

Marcia Guberman, a vice president of FleetBoston Financial's Women Entrepreneurs' Connection, has been named a director of the Women's Business Development Center in Stamford, and the Center for Small Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield. At Fleet, Guberman is responsible for providing financial support and other assistance to female business owners in Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties.

Cama Inc. of New Haven has named Angela Vallejera office manager. Vallejera will assist the design staff on a variety of health-care, educational and corporate projects. She was previously director of admissions at Branford Hall Career Institute in Branford.

Richard Oja has joined Fletcher-Thompson Inc.'s Education Studio as senior project manager. He has extensive experience in K-12 education and commercial projects, including focusing on specialty issues of sustainable design and the indoor air quality of schools. His project-management responsibility covers the full design process, from programming and feasibility analyses through design, construction documents and construction-phase services.

Also at Fletcher-Thompson in Bridgeport, Diane Kozel has been named marketing manager. Kozel has prior experience in the marketing of both architectural design and construction services.Walter J. Gaffney has been hired as director of advancement for the Mary Wade Home in New Haven. Gaffney will be responsible for writing grants, marketing, networking and promoting the facility. Gaffney has extensive background in health care and aging, including an M.A. from Yale University and an S.T.M. from Yale Divinity School. He is co-author of the book, Aging: The Fulfillment of Life.

Gaylord Hospital of Wallingford has appointed four new board members. Francis G. Adams Jr. has worked in various capacities with Merrill Lynch since 1966 and is now managing director. Alvin R. Johnson is vice president of employee relations at Yale-New Haven Hospital, responsible for managing employee relations for a workforce of 6,000. Previously he was senior vice president of human resources and administration at Babcock Industries in Fairfield. Barry Luke is vice president of finance and administration and assistant secretary at Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. of New Haven. Before joining Alexion in 1993, Luke was chief financial officer, secretary and vice president-finance and administration at Comtex Scientific Corp. David M. McDermott is president and owner of Dave McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven.

John Cwiertniewicz, director of marketing and development for S. Grove & Associates, LLC, of Hamden, has been named a director of the Hamden Chamber of Commerce. Cwiertniewicz has been quite active with the chamber, heading the Chamber Leads Group, working with the “Chamber's Choice” annual dinner committee, and sitting as a member of the Hamden Chamber's Golf Committee.

Stratis Business Centers has appointed Laetitia Ashmore as center manager of its Fairfield County center in Shelton. Ashmore will be responsible for the sales and management center that opened last June. She will also assist in the development of two additional centers to be opened in Fairfield County. Ashmore has a decade of experience working in the executive-suite industry, most recently with Bell Wishingrad Partners as telecommunications manager.

Stephen Kellert, professor of social ecology and a member of the Yale faculty for 24 years, has been named the Tweedy/Ordway Professor of Social Ecology at the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Kellert has authored more than 100 publications, including several books that explore humans' relationship with nature.

Jane Sharpe, owner of Design Ltd. of Newtown, has joined Ward Log Homes as an independent regional dealer, servicing Fairfield and Litchfield counties. Sharpe has experience in marketing, sales and communications, most recently serving as vice president of corporate communications and shareholder relations at People's Bank.
