BRIDGEPORT - Major league lacrosse is officially coming to the Park City.
The City Council last month approved a lease agreement with the Bridgeport Bluefish that allows a still-unnamed lacrosse team to play seven home games at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Bridgeport was recently named one of the six host cities by Major League Lacrosse. The council approved an amendment between the city and the Bluefish to increase the number of special events at the stadium from two to seven, which would allow for the lacrosse games to be played there.
Bluefish officials estimate that some 5,000 seats would be sold for each lacrosse game. Based on those projections, the Bluefish estimate total revenue for the first year at $452,375 and the second year at $530,622.The city of Bridgeport will receive $21,000, or $3,000 per game.
