The Greater Meriden Chamber of Commerce will stage the Central Connecticut Business, Industry & Technology Expo 2001 March 15 at the Meriden Ramada Plaza, 275 Research Parkway, Meriden. The event, sponsored in part by Business New Haven, will showcase business solutions and provide a variety of educational seminars.
At 7:45 a.m. the event unfolds with an Eye-Opener Kickoff Breakfast. Guest speaker will be economist Donald Klepper-Smith, president of DataCore Partners, who will offer an economic forecast for the Connecticut and U.S. as well as discuss business cycles and business risks.
The Expo will follow the breakfast, featuring a large number of exhibitors and an array of seminars including a state and local economic and financial resource panel, JCM Internet marketing, doing business with the state, and business issues particular to female entrepreneurs.
The event, free to the public, runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., concluding with Business After Hours beginning at 4 p.m. For booth information call 860-920-5330, ext. 324. Reservations are requested for Business After Hours by calling the Meriden chamber at 203-235-7901.
Five days later, the office of the Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz will sponsor the Connecticut Small & Minority Business Showcase on March 20 at the Housatonic Community College at 900 Lafayette Blvd., Bridgeport. The event is sponsored by People's Bank.
The event, billed as Small Business Is Big Business, is presented in partnership with the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, Gateway Community College, Business New Haven, the U.S. Small Business Administration, several state agencies and other organizations.
According to Harlan O. Henry constituent aide for Bysiewicz and showcase coordinator, the purpose of the event is to bring small and minority businesses together with lending institutions and agencies that are directly involved in small-business development. In its second year, the event has already proven a useful vehicle for networking as well as gaining valuable information on subjects such as how to do business with the government and business resources.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Booths are $50 and admission is free. For further information all 860-509-6269.
Finally, the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its Expo 2001 event, along with co-presenter Business New Haven and media sponsor WELI radio. This event takes place April 25 at the Holiday Inn, 201 Washington Avenue, North Haven.
CPTV's Diane Smith will open the day's festivities, while mascot Nick the Knight from the New Haven Knights hockey club will be on hand. Event hours are 2 to 7 p.m. and concludes with Business After Hours. For particulars, contact the Quinnipiac chamber at 203-269-9891.
