TRENTON, N.J. - Advertising revenues declined by 1.8 percent for the New Haven Register for the five-week period ended February 4. Company-wide, pro-forma advertising revenues for the Journal Register Co. (NYSE: JRC) increased one percent to $23.6 million compared to $23.4 million for the five weeks ended January 30, 2000.
Classified advertising revenues grew by two percent, led by real estate, up 20.2 percent, and continued strong employment advertising results, which grew by 7.7 percent over the prior-year period. However, automotive advertising declined by 10.9 percent over the same time span, and retail revenues were down by 3.1 percent for the period.
The JRC's Web sites generated a 26-percent increase in page views in the period as compared to the 12th period of 2000. In Connecticut, ctcentral.com, the company's largest regional portal, contributed approximately 1.6 million page views for the period, a gain of 23 percent over the 12th period of 2000.
