Achillion Enters Trials

NEW HAVEN - Achillion Pharmaceuticals announced earlier this month that Phase 1 trials of it's lead anti-viral drug had been initiated in Scotland. The drug, identified as ACH-126,443, is an orally administered anti-viral agent with potent activity against the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Said Achillion President and CEO William G. Rice, The initiation of our first clinical trial in less than a year from the company's start-up funding represents a significant milestone and demonstrates that we have the expertise and muscle to achieve our goals.
A privately held biopharmaceutical company, began Achillion commenced operations a year ago as one of the largest biotech start-ups in U.S. history. The company concentrates on the discovery and development of innovative anti-viral therapies.
