WATERBURY - The Waterbury Chamber of Commerce has discovered that many businesses wish to expand to markets outside the U.S. but lack the knowledge to integrate an export program into their existing business model. So the chamber has designed a seminar series, called Expand Your Markets Beyond the Border, hosted by the chamber's International Business Council, Connecticut Light & Power and Quinnipiac University.
A series of four seminars will be held beginning February 6 with Finding the Right Country, Market and Local Partner. Subsequent seminars will take place March 6, April 3 and May 1. Seminar admission may be obtained individually or as a package.
Instruction will be provided by faculty members of Quinnipiac University's Department of International Business. Businesses participating in the seminar series will have the advantage of assistance from a Quinnipiac intern who can assist business owners in implementing and operating an export program.
Stressing the importance to Connecticut's economy of exporting, the chamber reports that over the past six years Connecticut companies have exported $12 billion of products and services to the world. In the Waterbury area, export sales have grown 38 percent since 1993.
For a complete list of seminars and costs contact the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce at 203-757-0701, or on the Web at www.waterburychamber.org.
