WEST HAVEN - The West Haven Chamber of Commerce presented its 2000 Man/Woman of the Year Awards recently.
Women of the Year honors were shared by Mary Head and Helen Dorsi. Men of the Year awards went to Robert Desautels and Arthur Gilbert.
Small-business community investment officer for Chase Manhattan Bank, Head is president and founder of the West Haven Watershed Association and a recipient of the United Illuminating Co. Earth Partners Award. She is a member of the West Haven Economic Development Corp. board of directors. Dorsi was a longtime teacher and principal in the West Haven schools system. She is acting president of the West Haven Community House and president of the Ward-Heitman House Museum Foundation.
Desautels is director of the West Haven Summer Theater Workshop and director of the Balley Drama Club. He served as the English and reading teacher for Gianotti Junior High School and served as boys' supervisor at the Connecticut Juvenile Detention Center. West Haven tax collector Gilbert also served as councilor-at-large and majority leader on the West Haven City Council.
