New Haven - Tower One/Tower East, a not-for-profit low-income retirement faclility, has been awarded $4.29 million from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to convert three floors of Tower One to accessible assisted-living apartments. The grant, from HUD's Assisted Living Conversion Program, will also permit Tower One to build a new accessible main entrance and reconfigure first-floor office space. The project includes 33 assisted-living apartments furnished with fully accessbile kitchens. A lounge area will be provided on each floor for
socializing and group activities.
