W. Allen Fritts has been named president of Notifier of Northford. Fritts has been with the company for 25 years, serving as executive vice president, sales & marketing, executive vice president and general manager. Don Anderson has been named president of Fire-Lite Alarms Inc. of Northford. Anderson previously served as senior vice president engineering for Fire-Lite Alarms/Notifier prior to the company restructuring. Along with engineering, he will now oversee Fire-Lite's sales and marketing, training, customer service and technical support departments. Ray Krickmier, who was previously vice president of sales, has been named vice president, sales and marketing. He has spent 17 years with the company, during which time he also served as national sales manager.

The president and chief operating officer of Milford-based Bic Corp. Ray Winter, retired on December 31. Winter began his career at Bic in 1969 as a sales representative. Mario Guevara, formerly South American continent director, succeeds Winter as president and general manager of Bic North and South America. Guevara began working at Bic in 1992. Prior to becoming South America continent director in 1998, he served as general manager of Bic Mexico.

Scott Widmer has been named director of electronic communications at Maier Marketing & Communications. He will be involved in Web development and e-commerce projects for the agency's business-to-business clients. Widmer is a former manager of electronic communications at United Technologies Corp.

Mason & Madison Public Relations of New Haven has promoted Melissa Carta to assistant account executive. Carta joined Mason & Madison last June after being graduated summa cum laude from Ithaca College.

Pilot Pen Corp. of Trumbull has named Sallie Mitchell public relations director. Mitchell was previously director of brand development for the Public Relations Society of America in New York. She also served as public relations manager for Age Wave, LLC of California. Mitchell has also taught PR at California State Polytechnic University.

Marsh Inc. of Stamford, the world's largest provider of risk and insurance services, has appointed Charles F. Martin as managing director, claims department. Martin will be responsible for the claims department nationally as well as manage the New England offices of Marsh in all aspects of claims management and consulting. He specializes in liability, workers compensation, property and environmental losses. Martin joined Marsh in 1991 as vice president of the Connecticut operations claims department. He is also a former consultant for the Connecticut Victims Compensation Board.

Also at Marsh, Steven J. Schloss has been appointed managing director, employee benefits services department. With 20 years' experience in the field, including 15 with Marsh, Schloss becomes responsible for the deployment of employee benefits resources for Connecticut-based clients. Before joining Marsh in 1985, Schloss served as an underwriter and field representative for Hartford Insurance.

Mark Celentano has been named the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association's representative to the policy board of the National Funeral Directors Association. Celentano is vice president of Celentano Funeral Home in New Haven. New CFDA treasurer Arthur Erickson is a licensed funeral director at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, with locations in Hamden, Meriden and West Haven.

ArchivesOne of has promoted Jim Kallipolites to vice president of information technology. He will oversee technology and communicating company-wide. Kallipolites has been employed with ArchivesOne for more than six years, most recently as manager of day-to-day operations in Connecticut. Also at the Watertown company, Marilyn Markunas has been promoted to vice president of operations. Markunas began her career in records management at American Archives in 1988 as a bookkeeper and customer service associate. Most recently she was facilities manager of ArchivesOne Milford, a position she held since 1993. In addition, Jim Ratliff, previously ArchivesOne's chief operating officer, has been promoted to a senior vice president.

Kari H. Webster has joined William Orange Realty of Woodbridge as director of the newly formed relocation management division at the agency. Webster, a former marketing and sales professional, is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and former marketing director for a luxury cruise line in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Vogt/Wein of Westport has hired Lisa Goldstein as senior vice president, director of account services. She will be responsible for overseeing all of the agency's accounts as well as new business development. Goldstein brings to Vogt/Wein 15 years of financial-services marketing experience on the client side. Previously she spent six years in marketing at Citibank, most recently based in London as the European marketing director for the bank's corporate cash-management and trade-finance division.

Robert B. Mitchell and Margaret M. Sheahan have joined Pullman & Comley, LLC as members of the firm's labor & employment law department. Mitchell brings 20 years of experience including work in counseling, union-avoidance and a substantial employment litigation and trial practice. He serves as a special master for the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut and is an attorney trial referee for the Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport. Sheahan also has some two decades of experience representing private- and public-sector management in employment and labor matters, including litigation. She is a member of the Labor and Employment and the General Practice sections of the American Bar Association. Both Mitchell and Sheahan were most recently employed as principals with Durant, Nichols, Houston, Mitchell & Sheahan, P.C. Mitchell and Sheahan will work in Pullman & Comley's Bridgeport and Stamford offices, respectively.

Steven Paganelli, executive director of the Coastal Fairfield County Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB), has been reappointed as chairman of the Connecticut Tourism Association. Paganelli joined the CVB in 1994 as director of convention sales and was promoted to executive director in 1998.

A. R. Mazzotta Employment Specialists in Middletown has appointed Laura M. Pedersen vice president. Pedersen has been with the company since 1984, most recently as operations manager in charge of supervising day-to-day operations of the company's four offices, as well as handling all corporate, financial and computer functions. Pedersen holds a degree in accounting from Middlesex Community College.

Ellen Freiler has joined the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA as marketing associate. Short was most recently employed at Read to Grow Inc. as executive director. She has also held positions as marketing director with Hearing, Balance & Speech Center in New Haven and marketing associate with Earmark Inc. in Hamden.
