Fast Track Acquires DataEdge From IMS Health

WESTPORT - Fast Track Systems Inc., of San Mateo, Calif. has acquired DataEdge from IMS Health (NYSE: RX). Fast Track is an information technology company providing trial design and execution tools to the clinical development community. DataEdge provides clinical trial databases to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
With $1.1 billion in 1999 revenues, IMS Health operates in more than 100 countries. It is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer information partner, whose products include market research for prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products and sales management information to optimize sales force productivity.
