Paul M. Philpott, former chief marketing officer of Physicians Health Services, has joined ConnectiCare Inc. as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Prior to joining PHS, Philpott held executive level marketing and sales positions with NylCare Health Plans in New York City and FHP Healthcare in Fountain Valley, Calif. Most recently he served as a consultant and interim chief marketing officer for Digital Insurance.
Frank Nolan has joined JFW Associates in Guilford as a technical recruiter. Nolan has extensive experience in the computer industry, having held various information technology management positions throughout a 27-year career with the Southern New England Telecommunications Corp.
The office of John Schmidt, M.D. of the Aesthetic Surgery Center has named Terry Vece, CMA, as coordinator of plastic cosmetic surgery. Vece has 22 years of experience in the medical field, with both clinical and administrative expertise.
Citizens Bank has named Lynda B. Smith, a clinical psychologist and president and co-founder of the CARE Center, to its board of directors. She is also a board member of United Community & Family Services, the Southeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and the Day Publishing Co. of New London.
Karla Russo has been named manager of special events in the public affairs department at Quinnipiac University. She will be responsible for coordinating special events on campus. Russo was graduated from Quinnipiac in 1999 with a degree in business management. Most recently she was employed as a business information specialist at Connecticut Economic Resource Center. Odette George Franceskino has been promoted to director of graduate financial aid. Franceskino, who joined Quinnipiac in 1996, was previously associate director of undergraduate financial aid. Janet Waldman has joined Quinnipiac as university writer for the public affairs department, where she will be responsible for writing articles for the university's Web site, writing and editing the university's employee publication and writing articles for Quinnipiac's alumni magazines. Waldman previously was assistant features editor at the Connecticut Post.
The Mascola advertising agency of New Haven has promoted three staff members. Katie Tuttle, previously director of account service, has been promoted to vice president. Tehan Scully has been promoted to account manager in the public relations department, where he will manage all publicity, internal employee communications and media relations. Sarah Fabian has been promoted from account coordinator to traffic manager in the production department, where she will oversee the estimating, scheduling and production process of all jobs through the firm. Also at Mascola, Melissa Gullotti has been named director of the public relations department. Gullotti was formerly director of public relations for Mount Snow (Vt.) Ski Resort.
Valerie Koch has been promoted to chief operating officer and vice president of the Ganim Group of Bridgeport. Koch has been affiliated with the Ganim Group for 16 years, most recently as director of the employee benefits division.
Yale-New Haven Health System has named Julia M. McNamara, president of Albertus Magnus College since 1982, chairperson of its board of directors. McNamara, who replaces R. Patrick McFadden as chair, is the first woman to hold the position. She has been a director of the Yale New Haven Health System since 1991 and most recently served as vice chair. She is also a member and the vice chair of the Yale-New Haven Hospital board of trustees.
Yale-New Haven Hospital has named Marvin K. Lender, chairman of M&M Investments, chairman of its board of trustees, replacing Richard G. Bell. Also, Forrest Miller, president and chief executive officer of SNET, has been named a trustee.
James M. Staten has been named senior vice president for finance and chief financial officer of Yale-New Haven Hospital, as well as executive vice president for finance and corporate services of Yale-New Haven Health System. Staten was most recently the senior vice president in charge of finance for New York Presbyterian Hospital and the New York Presbyterian Health Care System. He has also worked as director of the New York State reimbursement consulting services with Ernst & Young.
Andrea Mackey has been named executive director of Branford-based Middlesex Home Health Services, an affiliate of VNA Community Healthcare. Mackey, who has worked in health care for 18 years, was most recently director of community and provider relations with Visiting Nurse Association of Central Connecticut. She was also director of community and provider relations for Harbor Hill Care Center in Middletown and an account manager for Professional Home Care Services in Cromwell.
John L. Fahs has been promoted to global product manager for the aminos group of the coatings business unit at Cytec Industries in Wallingford. Fahs joined Cytec in 1982 as a production supervisor in the resins plant and has since worked as department manager of metal coated fibers, materials control manager, project manager of the ERP system implementation and, most recently, supply-chain manager.

McInerney, president, Aetna Financial Services, Hartford; Anthony D. Merenda, president and CEO, I-Mark Inc., Hartford; Stephen T. Merkel, president, Loctite Corp., Rocky Hill; Thomas H. First Union National Bank has promoted Terence M. Sullivan to vice president. Sullivan was employed at Founders Bank and its successor, Centerbank, and was most recently assistant vice president in First Union's underwriting department for small-business lending.
Teikyo Post University has named Eileen B. Sheridan associate dean for accelerated degree programs. Sheridan will be responsible for Teikyo Post's Fairfield County evening sites in Danbury and Trumbull as well as the alternate weekend program at the main campus in Waterbury. She was formerly a buyer and also managed product advertising and promotion for Johnson & Johnson Professional Inc. in Stamford.
