Commercial space in New Haven's Ninth Square has struggled to come back to life, but things may at last be improving. The latest company to commit to locating to the Ninth Square is Svigals Associates, an architectural firm relocating from Science Park.
Svigals will join others in the Ninth Square District such as Bentara Restaurant, Artspace, the United Way and IBM. The company will occupy the second floor of 84 Orange Street. The building is about to undergo extensive exterior renovation. The second-floor space that Svigals will occupy will also require renovations.
Svigals, at Science Park since 1983, planned the move to the Ninth Square when Genaissance Pharmaceuticals required more space at the park, including that occupied by Svigal.
Jay Brotman, senior associate at Svigals, says Moving to Ninth Square is another great opportunity for us. We are please to contribute again to the redevelopment of an area of New Haven that holds great promise. It will inevitably energize the firm.
