Anthem Hikes ‘Block Rating’ Threshold

NORTH HAVEN - Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield has raised the threshold for its block-rating customers to now include firms with 250 contracts and March-July renewal rates. Previously, only groups with fewer than 150 enrolled contracts could participate in the plan, which is based on an adjusted pooling concept, rather than specific experience rating.
“This methodology has been successful in providing these firms with the rate stability they demanded,” says an Anthem official.
