The sixth annual “Team Connecticut” rally will take place December 5 at the Radisson Inn & Conference Center in Cromwell. Team Connecticut is a partnership of the state's Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD), Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC), Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the past year's economic-development successes and to look ahead to the future.

The event will open with an Economic Development Expo from 2 to 4 p.m. Approximately 15 booths will provide attendees an opportunity to see what's going on at the state level as well as with different organizations across the state, such as the Connecticut Business & Industry Association. CBIA officials will discuss their legislative agenda as well the Connecticut business training network. Officials of ConnEDO, a new Web site for Connecticut economic developers, will also be on hand to talk about the resources available through that site.

DECD representatives will talk about their programs to attract and retain businesses as well as their community revitalization programs. The expo offers an opportunity for people to meet one-on-one to find out what's going on with the state's industry “clusters” and how it affects people at the local level.

From 2 to 3 p.m. CEDAS will hold its annual meeting, including election of officers At 4 p.m. a legislative briefing will take place, with various economic-development entities joining together for the first time to present proposals to the legislature as a group. From 5 to 6 p.m., Gov. John G. Rowland will host a town meeting, fielding questions from the audience regarding economic development.

A cocktail reception will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards presentation. Awards include: the Team Connecticut Project award for most successful economic development project created this year; the Team Connecticut Program award honors an outstanding economic development program; the Team Connecticut Governor's Leadership award honors an individual who exemplifies the Team Connecticut spirit.
