SNET Accelerates DSL Deployment

NEW HAVEN - SNET, a business unit of SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE: SBC) announced that it would roll out digital subscriber line service to businesses and residents in 14 additional Connecticut municipalities. Area communities to get the new service include Deep River, East Hampton, Essex, Middlebury, Orange and Westbrook. The rollout brings to 87 the number of Connecticut municipalities served by SNET DSL. The service carries data traffic over existing copper phone lines at connection speeds up to 100 times faster than 56Kbps modems.
