VNA Services Inc. is the new name of the recently merged Regional Visiting Nurse Agency and Shoreline Visiting Nurse Association. The two home health-care agencies in south central Connecticut have become one regional home health-care provider, although each will continue to do business locally.
Based in Hamden, the Regional VNA serves greater New Haven, Milford and the lower Naugatuck Valley. The Shoreline VNA, based in Madison, serves shoreline communities from East Haven to Old Lyme. Combined, they cover a region with more than 20 percent of the state's population.
Cost control, better use of technology, enhanced access for patients to quality, cost-effective care, and streamlined business functions were cited as reasons to merge.
Judith Knisley, CEO of the Regional VNA, becomes CEO of the merged organization. Tina Bowers, clinical director of the Shoreline VNA, is director of clinical services for the combined agencies. Also: Cindy Istvan is director of community services; Leslie Walsh, director of quality management; and Cynthia Gibbons, chief financial officer.
Patient offices will be located in Madison and Hamden, with satellite offices in Branford and Old Saybrook.
