WEST HAVEN - Bayer Corp. is giving consumers advance notice of potential respiratory illnesses coming their way through the new Respiratory Tract Infection Alert. It's a national tracking system of respiratory illnesses that consumers can access through the Internet (www.RTIalert.com) or by calling the Bayer RTIalert toll-free line at 866-RTI-INFO (866-784-4636), and entering their ZIP code.
Respiratory illnesses being tracked include bronchitis, sinusitis and pneumonia. Updated weekly, the data comes from a sample of about 30,000 physicians covering 85 million to 100 million outpatient visits in 72 markets per year.
Surveillance Data Inc., an independent research company that collects and analyzes the data, licenses the RTIalert to Bayer, the worldwide research and pharmaceutical firm.
