NEW HAVEN - The growth of DSL.net Inc. (NASDAQ: DSLN) continues apace.

A direct provider of high-speed Internet access and business solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, DSL.net officials on October 5 announced that the company has introduced high-speed broadband access to 52 new markets.

The new service areas include the cities of Las Vegas, Nev., Kansas City, Mo., Buffalo, N.Y., Albuquerque, N.M., and Carmel, Calif.

“These new service areas strengthen DSL.net as the national broadband provider that offers high-bandwidth to businesses in communities large and small,” said David Struwas, DSL's president and CEO. “Our constantly expanding service footprint and CLEC authority power our vision to be the leading provider of mission-critical business connectivity and enhanced applications that enable e-commerce. We've done the hard, time-consuming work on the collocation and regulatory fronts to put us in this position.”

DSL.net offers customers a symmetric digital subscriber line (SDSL) service, using ordinary copper telephone wire, which delivers high-speed Internet connectivity, Web hosting, enhanced e-mail capabilities and more to small- and mid-sized businesses around the nation. DSL.net's business plan focuses on penetrating that target group primarily in secondary and tertiary markets throughout the U.S.

According to the research group International Data Corp. (IDC), 67 percent of small businesses with broadband access by 2003 will be accessing the Internet via DSL lines. Internet business-to-business spending will reach $6 trillion by 2005, according to Jupiter Communications, which will represent 42 percent of total U.S. non-service B2B spending.
