NEW HAVEN - Krauszer's, for years a late-night haunt of hungry Yalies, is being kicked out of its York Street storefront by Yale University Properties, which owns the building. It's not currently our intent to renew the lease with Krauszer's, Mark Jacobs, manager of operations for University Properties, told the Yale Daily News. Instead, Yale will seek a retailer that will be a good complement to Barrie Ltd. [Booters] or J. Press, with no clothing but perhaps gifts or trinkets, the paper reported. University Properties cited discontent with the convenience store, including Krauszer's appearance, disorganization, low quality and high prices. The lease expires in December. It's a question of quality, Jacobs said. We have a good merchant, Gourmet Heaven, coming in, that's going to operate a fantastic business. Quality merchandise at reasonable prices. I think Gourmet Heaven is going to be perfect.
