| Stamford and Greenwich hospitals are two of the growing number of U.S. hospitals offering “premier patient care” as a way to encourage patient loyalty and improve patient relations. Extra care options around the U.S. include fine furniture in the hospital room, daily newspaper delivery, use of a computer, concierge service for visitors and gourmet meals that still follow the doctor's orders. Greenwich, which has offered the service for years, charges an extra $125 a day. Stamford offers patients access to e-mails and faxes for free.
