The Party’s Over

Business New Haven
8/21/2000
By: BNH
Big Party stores in Orange, North Haven and Bridgeport as well as three others in Torrington, Danbury and Newington will be closing their doors soon, joining 13 other Big Party stores in seven states.

On August 7 the Massachusetts-based Big Party announced it was to be acquired by New York-based IParty Corp., which sells party supplies online and via catalogue sales. The stores closings were approved by a federal bankruptcy judge in Delaware, where Big Party filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier in the year.

In Connecticut, a Big Party store in Wallingford is scheduled to remain open, as are outlets in West Hartford, Manchester and Enfield.
