Information technology is a fast-growing sector of Connecticut's economy, and the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) has produced a new video for middle- and high-school students about careers in that field. The "Careers in Information Technology" video will be sent to schools this fall as part of CBIA's "Career Exploration Video Series."
The CBIA program includes interactive CD-ROMs for students and teachers, and pocket guides for employers that highlight ways for employers to expose students to careers. These include field trips, job shadowing, internships, pre-apprenticeships and mentoring.
"By businesses and schools working together, we can expand opportunities for all Connecticut students and increase the supply of skilled workers for employers," says Lauren Weisberg Kaufman, CBIA vice president for education and training, and director of the CBIA Education Foundation.
For details about the program and pocket guides, call 860-244-1900. The pocket guide can also be downloaded from CBIA's web site, www.cbia.com, under "Education & Training."
