Packard BioScience Announces Patents

MERIDEN - Packard BioScience Co. (NASDAQ: PBSC) has announced the issuance of two patents covering the procedures and devices for “drop-on-demand” dispensing that allows for non-contact collecting and dispensing of liquids in nanovolume droplets that may include DNA, cells and proteins. The biochips produced are practical for use in genomic as well as proteomics applications.
In a separate announcement, the company said that it had renamed its subsidiary, BioSignal Inc., to BioSignal Packard. BioSignal is a developer and supplier of products for use in genomics and drug discovery. Packard BioScience develops, manufactures and markets instruments and related products/services for the life-science research and nuclear markets.
