Dime Purchases Stock Held by Hudson

| NEW YORK - Dime Bancorp Inc. (NYSE: DME) announced completion of a purchase of 2.5 million of its shares that were held by Hudson United Bancorp (NYSE: HU) for $18.25 per share. The shares had previously been purchased by Hudson on the open market relative to a proposed Dime/Hudson merger. At the termination of the merger agreement, Hudson said that if it sold the stock it would offer it first to Dime.
