HARTFORD - A.J. Wasserstein, founder and president of Archives Management Inc. (AMI) of Watertown, was named Small-Businessperson of the Year for the Hartford district of the U.S. Small Business Administration, encompassing all of Connecticut. The award and ten others were conferred June 1 as part of the SBA's National Small-Business Week festivities. As part of its Welfare-to-Work Initiative, the SBA also cited onetime BNH cover subject Brenda Culpepper, owner of the PepperCo. Music Group of Stamford (formerly of New Haven). Culpepper is a former welfare recipient who founded a successful recording business. So is J'Ingrid Clemons, program coordinator for the WorkPlace Inc. in Bridgeport, who earned honors as W2W Associate of the Year.
