DSL.net Inks Pact

Signs with national small-business group to provide Internet solutions to members

Business New Haven
6/12/2000
By: BNH
DSL.net Inc. of New Haven earlier this month announced an agreement with the U.S. Federation of Small Businesses (USFSB) to offer high-speed digital subscriber line (DSL) Internet access and services to USFSB members.
Under the pact, DSL.net will immediately begin to provide a comprehensive offering of broadband Internet services to more than 12,000 USFSB member businesses across the U.S. Faster Internet access will allow them to take advantage of Web-based applications and services previously available only to large corporations. Headquartered in Schenectady, N.Y., the USFSB is dedicated to helping small businesses prosper. It offers a variety of group programs for business owners, including health insurance and business and service discounts. With this alliance, the USFSB will market DSL.net service to its membership base.
“High-speed Internet access allows small businesses to leverage the power of the Internet to sell their products or services, and provides them with the tools they need to compete in the marketplace,” said Joseph Cardamone, USFSB president. “We're pleased to be able to offer DSL.net's affordable Internet solution as part of the wide range of money-saving services available to businesses throughthe federation.”
“DSL.net has been focused from the start on providing valuable and cost-effective Internet solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, and our relationship with the USFSB will expand our ability to reach this important market,” said David Struwas, president and chief executive officer of DSL.net.
DSL.net's business-class DSL service includes: installation and customer premise equipment, reducing or eliminating the need for in-house technical support; an “always on” broadband link to the Internet with guaranteed access speeds of up to 1.5 MBPS; static IP addresses, domain name registration and management and instant e-mail, providing small businesses with their own “dot.com” Internet presence; and optional services including enhanced e-mail capabilities, Web hosting, USENET news and other online business applications and services offered by DSL.net partners such as ADP.
DSL.net, Inc. is a high-speed data communications and Internet access provider that uses digital subscriber line technology to provide high-speed Internet solutions to small and medium-sized businesses, primarily in second- and third-tier markets throughout the U.S. As of March 31, DSL.net had provided service or had installed equipment in some 186 cities.
