SHELTON - Shelton businessman Ed Newman is seeking approval from the town's Planning & Zoning Commission for a project to known as Crossroads at Exit 13, a two-story office building at 376 Bridgeport Avenue that would include a climate-controlled storage area, a bank, office space and a two-bay car wash.
The complex would sit off Exit 13 of Route 8 near the heavily traveled intersection of Platt Road and Bridgeport Avenue. Newman runs the Exit 13 Car Wash in Darien, near exit 13 off I-95.
The 2.2-acre parcel that Newman wants to develop is part of the Constitution Boulevard Economic Development area. Wedged between the downtown and the city's Pine Rock section, the area has an active spot for corporate growth. To get approval, Newman needs the planning commission to rezone the site to permit a building with multiple uses. The lot is currently zoned as an office park district.
