Hudson, Dime End Merger Talks

NEW YORK and MAHWAH, N.J. - Hudson United Bancorp (NYSE: HU) and Dime Bancorp Inc. (NYSE: DME) announced that by mutual agreement the two parties were terminating their merger agreement. The two companies also agreed to release each other from claims relative to the merger and to cancel stock options that were part of the deal. Both companies agreed they would not discuss the reasons for the termination and have cancelled their planned special shareholder meetings.
