Webster Names New President

WATERBURY - Directors of Webster Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: WBST) have elected William T. Bromage president of the company. In addition he was named vice chairman, president and a director of Webster Bank. James C. Smith continues in his capacity of chairman and chief executive officer of the company.
The company also announced that Michael G. Morris, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Northeast Utilities, has joined the Webster Financial board of directors.
