The Usual: The Unusual

NEW HAVEN - Opened for just a month, the Elm & Ivy florist shop at 965 State Street has hit the ground running. Specializing in bouquets and arrangements, owners Dennis J. Sullivan and Todd John Comstock are busy filling numerous corporate orders. With backgrounds in horticultural, the shop is just another iteration of the duo's business, which includes a landscaping company. “We're putting everything we love into this shop,” says Sullivan. “It makes me look forward to coming to work.” With variety in mind, the pair have stocked the shop with unusual topiaries in a variety of styles such as herbs and perennial plantings. Orchid plants are the pride of the shop, thriving in the Elm & Ivy environment. The shop also carries a large inventory of antique plants. An eclectic assortment of items seems to be the theme of the shop, so if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind gift item, such as an antique picture frame or a small terrarium for the person that has everything, drop by. The shop is opened 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
