Two important new databases have been made available on the Business New Haven Web site, www.businessnewhaven.com.
Beginning earlier this month, the site contains 1998 (the latest year for which data is available) retail sales by business type for each Connecticut municipality, according to BNH Publisher Mitchell Young. Also, the site now has information on every real estate transaction in Connecticut - commercial and residential - from 1994 to 1999. That's more than 300,000 transactions.
These important additions are just two more tools with which business people can find the business informatio they need to be successful in Connecticut, says Young. At a time when the public debate in New Haven is focused on the building of a giant mall, we thought it would be useful to actually see what's taking place in the retail marketplace in the city and the region. On an ongoing basis retailers, restauranteurs and others can use this information for business planning.
The BNH site already is home to demographic information, education data by school district, municipal profiles including employment by industry, taxes and budget information, and a complete Connecticut and U.S. wage database containing wage comparisons for nearly every occupation.
We're also soon to announce our first Internet partnership. We're helping a local company develop and offer an important web service that we will market on our website and through the newspaper. We're actively looking for other companies to develop unique business tools for the local marketplace as well, added Young.
