Board Approves Buyback of Ames Shares

ROCKY HILL - Directors of Ames Department Stores Inc. (NASDAQ: AMES) have authorized spending $25 million for the repurchase of the company's stock. The company said that it would buy the stock back in both open-market purchases and private transactions, depending on market conditions and other criteria. As of March 15, more than 29 million shares Ames shares were outstanding.
