Prudential Connecticut Realty has named Paulette Costa director of education. Costa will oversee the entire educational process and curricula for Prudential Connecticut Realty's 32 offices and 890 sales executives. The company recently grouped all its educational offerings under one umbrella, Prudential University, with a comprehensive schedule of classes, seminars and workshops to educate sales executives on anything from traditional sales skills to the latest Internet marketing strategies as well as the changing laws and regulations that continually affect the real estate industry. According to Prudential, the average buyer today is 35 years old, prefers to communicate via e-mail and wants access to information online, forcing companies to embrace new technologies.

Susan Shaw Saunter of Press/Cuozzo Realtors in Hamden has earned the President's Award, the highest award given to a Realtor by System I Real Estate Network Group of Connecticut. Shaw is a consistent multi-million-dollar producer at Press/Cuozzo with a record $10 million in sales in 1999. She has been a full-time Realtor for 15 years.

William Orange Realty has announced that three members of the firm have received honors. Wayne Hugendubel has been awarded top listing agent. Barbara Lehrer has been recognized as the Realtor with the most buying units and Judy Cooper has been award top producer.

LEASE

Sentry Commercial Real Estate Services Inc. has announced that Graebel/Connecticut Movers Inc. has leased 84,128 square feet at 33 Stiles Lane, North Haven. The industrial building is owned by Mystic Acquisitions II, LLC. Sentry Commercial Real Estate Services represented the tenant, and Lexington Partners represented the landlord.

Coldwell Banker Commercial has announced that BKM Total Office is relocating its warehouse facilities to a 90,000-square-foot building at Executive Business Park in Orange. BKM signed a long-term lease, consolidating two other warehouse facilities. Christopher K. O'Hara of Coldwell Banker represented BKM. Other tenants in the 500,000-square-foot park, which is owned by Baker Properties, include Bayer, SNET, KX Industries and Southern Connecticut Gas Co. The park is now 100-percent leased.

Press/Cuozzo Realtors has announced that TelPro Associates, a telecommunications consulting service, has signed a multi-year lease for 1,200 square feet at 2679 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. The company, which is relocating from downtown New Haven, will occupy the entire second floor of the two-story office building. Stephen Press represented the landlord, Lakehouse Properties, LLC, while Joel Nesson of Press/Cuozzo represented TelPro.

Press/Cuozzo Realtors has announced that Attorney Joseph Aceto has leased office space at 2693 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Aceto's firm will occupy the entire top level of the three-story office building. Stephen Press was sole broker in the transaction and also represented the ownership on the sale of this property.

Pyramid Real Estate & Management Co. has announced that the Granata Sign Co. will relocate from 737 Canal Street in Stamford to 5,600 square feet at 80-90 Lincoln Avenue in Stamford. Dick Palmer of Pyramid represented Granata, while Mark Beaudry of Beaudry Commercial, a division of Mont Management, represented the landlords, Gerald and Elsie Werner.

Pyramid also announced that Tiffany Nail has leased 1,000 square feet at 1248 Post Road, Westport. Brian Dornan represented the tenant and landlord in the transaction. Also, the Antique & Artisan Center has leased 5,000 square feet at 69 Jefferson Street, Stamford. Brian Dornan and Dick Palmer represented the landlord, O&G Industries. The King Group, a multi-office supply company, has leased 2,400 square feet on the ground floor of 471 Glenbrook Road, Stamford. The company is relocating from Myrtle Avenue in Stamford. The Glenbrook site is owned by Gravis Realty. Dick Palmer and Bruce Shelton of Pyramid Real Estate were brokers in the transaction.

SALES

George Smith & Son Commercial & Investment Real Estate has announced the sale of a 3,500-square-foot office building at 220 Bic Drive, Milford. The purchaser is Epernay 220 Realty Corp., who plan to use the building for its own offices. Marjorie C. Smith and John F. Bergin handled the sale. The seller was Nancy Smith. The property sold for $371,000.

Press/Cuozzo Realtors has announced the sale of 2679 Whitney Avenue, Hamden for $325,000. The modern free-standing office building houses 3,200 square feet on two floors and will continue to be used as a multi-tenanted property. The purchaser was Jose Asis, M.D., who will occupy the first floor for his medical practice. Stephen Press represented the seller, Lakehouse Properties, LLC, while Jeff Reily of Beazley Co. represented the buyer.

Sentry Commercial Real Estate Services has announced that Kamco Colony Supply of New England has purchased a 84,009-square-foot industrial building at 780 North Colony Road, Wallingford. The property was purchased for $1,710,000 from Joseph T. Ryerson & Sons. CB Richard Ellis represented the seller.

Pyramid Real Estate & Management Co. has announced that Harley Davidson of Stamford, through Blues Brothers LLC, an allied entity, has purchased 575-579 Pacific Street, Stamford. The two-story buildings total 22,000 square feet and are sited on 27,500 square feet of land contiguous to an additional parcel owned by the purchaser. Both building will be renovated to house a full-service Harley Davidson dealership.

CONSTRUCTION

Petra Construction Corp. of North Haven has broken ground on a $2 million community center for Chapel Haven at 1040 Whalley Avenue, New Haven. The new facility, designed by Pelizza-Robinson Architects of Orange, will serve clients and other with disabilities in the New Haven-area community. Chapel Haven provides independent living skills to clients in a residence for two years and then continues with services as those individuals transition to independent living. The building will house a computer laboratory, digital photography studio, fitness center, ceramics studio, classrooms, library, offices and social rooms. It is slated for completion at the end of the year.
