JRC Ad Revenues Down

TRENTON, N.J. - The Journal Register Co. (NYSE: JRC), parent company of the New Haven Register, reported January advertising revenues fell 0.2 percent to $23.7 million from a year ago on a pro forma basis. (Pro forma results exclude the revenue of the newspaper publisher's dispositions and acquisitions in both periods.)
Journal Register officials said same-newspaper advertising revenue for the five weeks ended February 4 declined 7.9 percent from last year on a pro forma basis. Same-newspaper retail advertising revenue for the month was down 3.6 percent, while same-newspaper classified advertising revenue fell 13.9 percent, both on a pro forma basis.
The JRC owns 23 daily newspapers and 204 non-daily publications, and operates 133 Web sites.
