Career Center Dedicated

NORTH HAVEN - A new career center has opened at North Haven High School. Designed for all career-oriented students, both traditional and returning adult education, the center was a project of the Executive Auto Group and the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. The two groups raised funds to purchase 22 volumes from JIST Works, a series of career planning publications. The periodicals cover everything from cover letter and résumé writing, determining career choices and top categories for men and women. Man & Woman of the Year Award

WEST HAVEN - The West Haven Chamber of Commerce has announced that Paul Patrigani, Dodie Ireland, Maureen Blake and Sal Carrano will be honored at the chamber's annual Man & Woman Awards Dinner February 5, 7 p.m. at the Italian-American Club, 85 Chase Lane, West Haven. The four will be honored for their extra commitment to the community. Tickets to the event are $40 and available at the chamber office, Harvey's Sports Cards and Teddi & Archell: A Hair Salon. MILFORD - The Milford Chamber of Commerce recently held its 45th annual meeting and Awards of Distinction. The following received awards: Robert Kappel of Jacobi, Kappel & Case PC, president's award; Len Napoli of Napoli Motors, businessperson of the year; Lisa Arenberg of Advanced Placement Inc., director of the year; Joy Stonier of the Literacy Center of Milford, human service award; Peggy Kelly of 12345 Kids Court, public sector award. Also: Bic Corp., corporate award; Raymond Macaluso of Westcott & Mapes, community service award; Howard Treat of the Milford Bank, lifetime award; and three posthumous lifetime awards to Dan Meisenheimer, Al Ahrens and Joseph Agro Sr.
STRATFORD - Anthony F. Vuozzo has been re-elected president of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce. President of AMC Technology, an environmental testing and consulting firm, Vuozzo has served three terms on the on Town Council including two terms as majority leader. Pointing out that the chamber is creating a new economic-development blueprint for the town, Vuozzo recommends that Stratford examine three business clusters as areas for future growth: entertainment and tourism, biotech companies and e-commerce fulfillment centers.

TRUMBULL - Stephen E. Norton has been elected president of the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce. An investment representative for Edward Jones since 1996, Norton is a former vice president and investment representative with U.S. Trust and a representative of the trust department of the former Lafayette American Bank & Trust Co. Norton notes that the chamber board has a list of 23 goals and is working to refine and prioritize that list. He outlines three areas the chamber will be working on: improving the business climate in Trumbull; giving the business community a voice in the town and region; and creating business and networking opportunities for chamber members and business owners in Trumbull and in the surrounding region.
