OLD SAYBROOK - The Mid-Connecticut Regional Workforce Development Office recently moved into newly minted headquarters at 263 Main Street. The office, located in Suite 304, is opening as a joint effort between the town of Old Saybrook, Workforce Partners Inc. and the state's Department of Labor in response to the announced closure of the R.R. Donnelley/Aercology plants, employing about 450 workers.
In a rapid response team effort to address the plant closures and employment impact on the region, Workforce Partners worked with Old Saybrook First Selectman Michael Pace and DOL Commissioner Shaun Cashman. Services available will include job-search assistance, résumé development, worker retraining and placement services. Layoffs started in early February and are expected to be completed by September.
