Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut recently hosted a visiting delegation of 20 senior health-care executives from Jiangsu Province in the People's Republic of China. The School of Health Sciences at Quinnipac College facilitated the group six-day visit to the state as part of a developing international exchange program. The group requested visits to state and local health departments, acute and community hospitals, long-term care facilities, surgical centers, private physicians practices and an insurance company. Blue Cross officials explained how managed care operates in the U.S., noting that the Chinese health-care system is slowly moving toward a model somewhat like Medicare and Medicaid in the U.S.
