Alpine Group Changes Fiscal Year

NEW YORK - The Alpine Group Inc. (NYSE: AGI) has announced a change in its fiscal year reporting period to December 31 from April 30, effective December 31, 1999. The change will allow its fiscal reporting to coincide with the fiscal year end of its majority-held subsidiary Superior TeleCom Inc. (NYSE: SUT), of which Alpine holds 51.7 percent. Superior is the largest domestic manufacturer of cable and wire in this country and ranks fourth in the world.
