IMA Blazes Ahead

SHELTON - Information Management Associates Inc. (NASDAQ: IMAA), a provider of synchronized, multi-channel e-business solutions, has announced results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, and restated results for the second quarter ended June 30.
Revenues for the third quarter were $8 million compared to $15.8 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 1998, reflecting a downturn in product demand in the voice-only call-center industry. IMA reported a net loss for the third quarter of $6.3 million, or 65 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $1.9 million (20 cents per share) a year ago. According to IMA, the quarterly loss was primarily the result of lower revenues, costs associated with the launch of IMA's majority-owned Internet subsidiary, buyingedge.com, and costs associated with the development of the company's recently announced Internet-focused product line scheduled for release this month.
IMA also announced restated results for its second quarter ended June 30, 1998. On revenues of $13.1 million the company posted a net loss of $1.8 million, or 19 cents per share. IMA's restated results for the second quarter of this year reflect revenues of $9.9 million and a net loss of $6.3 million, or 65 cents per share.
IMA has announced the integration of the Blaze Advisor Solutions Suite as a key element of IMA's Demand Chain Management product suite and its Internet Component Architecture (iCA). With this integration, customers can develop and maintain a consistent set of business rules for interaction management across all channels of communication. IMA's ChannelEDGE product, built on the iCA, accesses Blaze Advisor to determine the best response for every customer interaction. The end customer receives significantly better service than through traditional approaches, and the enterprise delivers services in a cost-effective and timely manner.
As business conditions change, the central administration of the business rules via Blaze Advisor enable rapid refinement of company policies and procedures by business managers and analysts. The rules for doing business are maintained separately from the application code and may be applied instantly and uniformly to each communication conduit. This allows companies to react swiftly to market dynamics without the need for time-consuming application logic changes.

As a development partner, Blaze Software is a member of IMA's LeverEDGE Alliance program. The two companies have entered into a license and marketing agreement. The integrated offering will be backed by joint marketing efforts throughout the world.
