Old-timers might not recognize the former Union League Club in its reincarnation as the Union League Café, a chic but accessible restaurant and gathering spot in the historic Chapel Street district. From its justly celebrated raw bar, diners can feast on anything from littleneck clams to East Coast oysters.
The lunch menu ranges from sandwiches such as the croque monsieur to salads and entrées such as sirloin. For dinner, the restaurant caters to seafood lovers with offerings including smoked salmon and other fruits de mer.
At the far end of the restaurant is an elegant but comfortable bar, perfect for after-work cocktails or later evening entertaining. Lunch entrées run from about $7 to $12 and dinner in the $15-to-$22 range. There is also an impression selection of appetizers to set the tone for the singular gustatory experience to follow.
