Owner Odysseus Rethis describes his boutique as a "modern sportswear store." In truth, it is a little-bit-of-everything boutique. While small, Archetype stocks a full range of women's clothing and footwear, from evening dresses to flannel suits to blue jeans - and including such accessories as shoes, boots, hats, gloves and tights.
The clothing at Archetype is thoroughly modern, with the slinky silhouettes and clunky heels that define women's style today. The size range, zero to 12, caters to the current waif-like look. The store also stocks a number of trendy items, such as "dirty wash" jeans, which come with a pre-soiled, as well as a pre-worn look, and wrinkled taffeta evening skirts.
While modern, Archetype's clothes are also timeless. Most are made of luxurious fabrics that never go out of style. There are super-soft wool flannels, silk-angora blends, rich mohairs. Many pieces also have unique styling details that set them apart from the trends that so quickly come and go: jackets have pockets with a distinctive cut; evening camisoles surprise by coming in a sweater-like knit; a dress coat has an unusual slim cut.
Because of its manageable yet varied selection of pieces, almost any one of which would make a truly special gift, Archetype is an ideal place to shop for the stylish woman in your life.
