Cinderella, eat your heart out. The fairy godmothers at Tamar in Old Saybrook have put together a fabulous collection of evening wear not to be found at any store around. And owner Kay Chiat and her team will give the same personal service as Cinderella's personal dresser.
Tamar (which means palm tree in Hebrew) carries a full range of American and European designers that you won't find at department stores, in sizes from 4 to 18. The store also offers free alterations to ensure that your stunning gown fits to a T.
There are beaded ball gowns in the latest strapless, bustier style and traditional, elegant black sheaths. There are gowns with fur trim and rhinestones, creations with ribbons and bows, long and short, styles with palazzo pants and sleek, sexy numbers.
Can't step out in that finery without the necessary accessories. Tamar has a display case filled with sparkling earrings (both clip-on and pierced styles); rhinestone necklaces and hair clips; beaded necklaces and bracelets. Then there's a collection of evening purses in velvets and beads, silks and satins. The silk, velvet, satin and beaded shawls and capes are exquisite. Don't forget the Stuart Weitzman shoes to make your wardrobe complete.
