NORTH HAVEN - Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut and its BlueCare HMO Plan are ranked among the top health plans in the nation, according to Newsweek magazine. Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield was ranked seventh among the 100 health plans evaluated as part of Newsweek's annual HMO study. It was also the highest-ranking Connecticut plan in the study and one of only 13 plans to receive an overall five-star rating.
The Newsweek study evaluated health plan performance in six areas: access and services, child and adolescent care, getting better, women's health, member satisfaction and qualified providers. Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut received an overall score of 75.5 out of a possible 100, compared to a score of 79.1 earned by the highest-ranked plan in the nation.
