BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Community Health Center has been awarded $13,400 from the proceeds of the annual Boston to New York AIDS Ride, a three-day, 300-mile bicycle trek that raises funds for AIDS awareness. We will use the funds to target high-risk people who may not be aware of AIDS/HIV services, counseling and testing, said Ludwig Spinelli, executive director of Bridgeport Community Health Center. BCHC plans to service 500 new high-risk clients as a result of the media campaign. Billboard advertising, transit advertising on city buses and the creation of a cable television commercial are in the works, said Richard Torres, medical director. As the largest testing site in the state, we continue to champion the AIDS/HIV cause, Spinelli said. These additional funds will enable us to spread our reach and help even more people in our communities. BNHrs in Waterbury, Norwalk and Bridgeport.
