PROSPECT - A successful business starts with a small idea that grows into a plan. Pauline Bartlett planned a trip with a friend, but when the friend backed out she went looking for someone to travel with by placing an ad in the newspaper. It didn't take long for her to realize that there are plenty of people out there looking to share travel adventures, either for a day trip or for a vacation. So in August, Bartlett started the Connecticut Travelers' Registry. Advertising in magazines and newspapers, Bartlett reports, the response has been excellent. I've received inquiries from all over the state, she says. In order to match up people with common interests, I have people fill out a form that gives me the proper information. Bartlett says many people are simply looking for company when they travel, or someone to share expenses. She is quick to point out that her company is not a dating service. There is a nominal fee for the service and it takes 60 to 90 days to find a travel-mate. As for the future, Bartlett points out that it takes time to get the word out but judging to the response so far, the future is bright.
