Middlebury watchmaking giant Timex Corp. broke ground October 7 on a new 72,000-square-foot headquarters building atop a rolling hill on Christian Road.
The futuristic, "environmentally sensitive" building will cost about $24 million in all and is slated for early 2001 completion. The design team is headed by the Bridgeport firm of Fletcher-Thompson Inc. Timex, the best-selling watch brand in the U.S., purchased the property from IBM in 1997.
