| Consumers named Physicians Health Services (PHS) the top point-of-service health plan in Connecticut, according to an independent study conducted by the CareData.com consumer research group. The 1999 CareData Commercial Health Plan member survey rated PHS' point-of-service plan tops in 12 major categories, including overall health plan, quality of medical care, hospital quality, specialists, concern shown for health and well-being and prescription drug plan. This marks the second year that PHS has been evaluated in the research firm's study, which has been conducted annually since 1994 and evaluates member satisfaction of 159 managed-care plans in 27 major managed-care markets. The 1999 study was based on 24,082 health plan members from May through August.
