| HARTFORD - Gov. John G. Rowland has asked Lt. Governor Jodi M. Rell to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure that Connecticut's schools and libraries are prepared to meet the computer and information-technology needs of the next century. "It's vital that all of our students have access to state-of-the-art computer technology from kindergarten through graduate school," said Rowland. "Computers in the classroom are an increasingly important tool and we must make certain that every student has access to computer training and usage." Rell, who plans to visit dozens of Connecticut classrooms and libraries this fall for a first-hand look at wiring, hardware and software needs, will present her findings and recommendations to the Rowland by December so that they may be included in his proposal for the 2000 legislative session.
