| NEW HAVEN - SNET and the other companies owned by the San Antonio-based SBC Communications Corp. have completed nearly all Y2K-related system and network upgrades. The companies' year 2000 readiness efforts now focus on continued testing and enhancement of business-continuity plans to ensure a smooth transition to the new Millennium. All date-sensitive elements of SBC's network will be tested and retested prior to January 1. The company also is working with others in the industry and third-party testing groups. To further ensure that Y2K is a non-event for SNET customers, the company is enhancing its business-continuity plans to prepare for potential situations that could affect services. These plans are an extension of the company's existing procedures for providing services in the event of a natural disaster or emergency and include increased staffing and the establishment of a central command center at its corporate headquarters in San Antonio.
