I wanted to follow up on a previous cover story with regards to "All That Junk" and specifically Mark Winik of Laser Image. A bill, No. 7056, regarding to the state of Connecticut using recycled or remanufactured toner cartridges passed in both the house and the state senate. The bill was introduced by Winik to State Rep. Pat Widlitz (co-chair of the environmental committee), who was impressed with the nature of the issues pertaining to the environment and how it would also help Connecticut-based businesses related to this industry.
Pat did a remarkable job introducing this bill and with great dedication and support from others, she successfully helped to navigate this bill into what will soon become a law in the state of Connecticut.
Among the strong supporters to help see this important bill pass were State Sen. Bill Aniskovich, New Haven-based lobbyist [Alderwoman] Robin Kroogman and Penny Crump from the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, both worked extremely hard and wisely to see this bill through successfully. These people should be commended for doing such a fine job.
Connecticut is the first state in the country to pass a bill of this kind, which will help serve as a guide for the many other states throughout the country that are working toward the same goal.
In addition to thanking all these people for doing a fine job, I would also like to thank Business New Haven for doing a great job in covering this story and want you to know that your coverage did also have an impact on the importance of this bill with the state senators and state representatives.
